The Reality of Bid’ah

The literal meaning of Bid’ah (innovation) is a new thing. According to Shari’ah, Bid’ah refers to those beliefs or practices which were not prevalent in the visible lifetime of Rasoolullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) and were produced afterwards. According to Shari’ah, Bid’ah is of two types, Bid’at-e-I’tiqaadi and Bid’at-e-Amali. [Jaa’al Haqqu Wazahaqal Baathil] Bid’at-e-I’tiqaadi (Innovation in Belief) are those false beliefs that were produced in Islam after Rasoolullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam).
