Women can also do Itekaf : It has also been proved from hadith that women can also do aetekaf.The hadith highlighting the fact is as follows:
Narrated ‘Aisha:
(the wife of the Prophet) The Prophet used to practice Itikaf in the last ten days of Ramadan till he died and then his wives used to practice Itikaf after him. (Sahih Bukhari : Book 3 , Volume 33 , Hadith 243)
The vow for Itekaf should be fulfilled:
If some one has vowed to do aetekaf he should fulfill his vow.This is proved from the following hadith:
Narrated Ibn ‘Umar:
that ‘Umar had vowed in the Pre-lslamic period to perform Itikaf in Al-Masjid-al-Haram. (A sub-narrator thinks that ‘Umar vowed to perform Itikaf for one night.) Allah’s Apostle said to ‘Umar, “Fulfill your vow.”( Sahih Bukhari : Book 3 , Volume 33 ,Hadith 259)
